In April COLA submitted a matching grant to CRPD – We’d buy water fountains for the Kimber and Walnut Grove OLAs if CRPD would install and connect them to their water. The fountains cost approximately $3,000 each. To raise this money, patrons from both OLAs participated in a month long donation campaign that asked them to match a private $3000 single donation. In less than six weeks, over $7000 was raised!
The COLA/ CRPD grant gets approve this month for inclusion in CRPD’s 2016-2017 budget and work program. The willingness of OLA patrons to help in improving their parks is an outstanding example of community stewardship. CRPD staff were suitably impressed! We’re hoping this translates to installation of the fountains sometime in the Fall.
